Handlebar cam audio upgrade

by Editor on 12/27/17

The handlebar cam mount was pretty much dialled in and there wasn't anything I could think of to improve the video quality, so I focused on the audio. Originally there was a piece of aluminum angle butted up against the stereo microphone ports at the front of the case. This blocked out most of the wind noise, which is good but it also picked up more of the case noise. I know, you're probably wondering what the heck is case noise? It's when the mic pics up the sound from inside the case resulting in slightly muffled audio instead of the true sounds. I thought about moving the windbreaker forward, any easy fix and that should solve the problem, but decided to take this opportunity to try and improve it further.
The new windbreaker originally started out as 1 1/2 inch aluminium pipe, then I cut out a section of it to make more of a wind deflector instead of a breaker. Next was the filling, sanding, drilling, polishing and then mounted it with 1/4 inch stainless steel button head fasteners. By moving the deflector forward and with the wind now being re-directed it should eliminate the small audio issue that bothered me.
Since the mount was already off the bike I decided to polishing it top and bottom as well as installing new stickers.
