As if I needed another reason to swap out my OEM bolts to Colony Chrome...
Two of the 14 clutch cover bolts were very badly oxidized BUT look at the heads, there’s no sign of a underlying problem
Luckily they came out without breaking!

Meanwhile back at the asylum: Sanding done on this side.
220 grit done
320 grit done
400 grit done
600 grit done
800 grit done
1000 grit done
2000 grit done
Still have to polish this side but will wait until I finish the other side with 800, 1000, 2000

Sanding off the casting seam & imperfections on this compensator bowl.220 grit done: Next: 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 2000 then polish with AutoSol

After sanding with 220, 320, 400, 600 grit…. The 800 grit really starts to show the depth & shine.
Next: 1000, 2000 then polish with extra virgin olive oil.
(Yes you read that right, just checking to see if you caught it)

I have replaced almost all of the grungy old OEM bolts and fasteners on my VRODS with colony products on this page and other pages of their 2023 Catalogue. You can get your free digital version on colony's website.

CORBIN Beetlebags HD-VR-BAG Saddlebags sitting in the garage! These 2002 - 2006 VRSCA models are extremely hard to find now a days since they were discontinued several years ago and were priced at 2K USD unpainted.

I decided to use the carbon fiber 2003 VROD to test fit the Corbin Beetlebags HD-VR-BAG (fitment 02-06 VRSCA) because it has the very large stock mufflers and shocks on it. If they fit and clear on this then I'll know without a doubt they are the correct ones and work on the silver 03 or the blue 05

It's a lot of work but definitely worth it in my opinion.
This rear brake Vrod rotor has been sanded with 220, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 2000 grit sandpaper then polished with Autosol

After spending an obscene amount of time sanding and polishing this rear brake rotor it was time to put the finishing touches on it with these Colony chrome plated rear disk brake rotor screw kit (part number 9818-5) to replace the aging old OEM ones

Corbin saddlebag brackets for Harley Davidson VROD.
Started sanding off all the old paint and rust before repainting them.

Newspaper challenge: This VROD brake disc has been sanded and polished to the point where you can read a newspaper in the reflection.

The red arrows represent the current location of the auxiliary lights. I've made up a new set of mounting brackets to mount them on the brake caliper bolt represented by the green arrow. I think the will not only look better in that location but will also light up the road better.

Spent some time trying out several different ways to route the wiring & this seems to be the cleanest look I’ve come up with.
Still need to extend the length of wire, run it behind the brake cables & behind the headlight into the side vents for the new connectors.

Finished off the front wheel axle holder.
Sanded off all the dimples, casting marks & imperfections.
Sanded with 220, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 2000 & then polished with Autosol.

Going to install these Genuine Harley-Davidson passenger floor boards (pn: 51024-02) on the silver 2003 VROD. They will give Diane better foot placement now that I've switched over to the Corbin saddlebags.

Decided to take the floorboards apart for cleaning, during re-assembly I used anti seize on the pins with blue locTite on the threads. I also switched the left & right floorboards so the best looking one is on the right side.

Got them mounted, checked clearances & this side looks good. Other side is very close to saddlebag when flipped up but after removing a saddlebag bracket spacer it no longer touched when flipped up.
Once the weather warms up we’ll go for a ride. If Diane likes them better I’ll get them chromed.

The brake rotor that I sanded and polished suits it nicely as do the Colony chrome brake rotor bolts.

The VROD passenger floorboards just clear the Corbin Beetle Bag when flipped up. I did have to remove a spacer washer on the saddlebag mounting bracket to achieve this.

Corbin did a nice job of allowing room to accomidate the Screamin' Eagle 16 gauge mufflers

One of the many things I like about these Corbin Beetle Bags is how close they fit to the rear fender.
I really don't like seeing the large gaps between bags and fender that so many Bagger guys have.

Completed the relocation of these PIAA LED auxiliary lights with custom mouting brackets, relocated quick connectors and ran the wiring behind the brake lines.

Replaced the grungy old nuts for these Colony chrome nuts with flanges and chrome acorn nute on the starter solenoid.
