Highway 8 ride.

by Editor on 07/30/10

Yesterday's ride was the Highway 8 loop. This is a 554 kilometer ride that  started in Aldergrove on the Trans Canada Highway #1 to Hope for gas, then up the Coquihalla Highway to Merritt. After fueling up there it was over to the Nicola Highway #8 that goes through the Lower Nicola valley and ends up at Spences Bridge. Now in the Fraser Canyon travelling on the Trans Canada Highway #1 to Lytton for more gas, (3.7 gallon tank on the v rod empties quick). It was pretty warm there at 32 degrees Celsius, your kickstand leaves a mark in the ash-fault. The Fraser Canyon is a great ride, road crews have been busy making improvements, they are still working on the Alexandera Bridge, there is only a signal lane open there and it is controlled by a traffic light. Riding through the five tunnels is always fun, you can feel the temperature change and the the bike sounds great in there! One more gas stop in Hope, then headed for home...
